ASK DR. SCHELLING

DEAR DR. SCHELLING,

My new puppy, Buster, is having a tough time mastering potty training. He is getting better but he still has a few accidents in the house and no matter how hard I try I cannot seem to fully clean them up! What is the best way to clean up urine stains?

-Gwen

Dear Gwen,

Every dog owner can understand your woe's with stain detecting and cleaning. Luckily, I have an article on cleaning urine stains that has been through my own rigorous testing because even as a veterinarian, I've been there too!

Dear Max,

I think my dog is turning into a bandit! Sally loves to take all my socks and bury them in the backyard together. And I often search the house for her favorite chew toys when it's playtime and find them all hidden in a pile under my daughters' bed. What's going on with her? Should I change Sally's name to Sneaky?!

–William

Dear William,

Sally is not a bandit! She might be a little sneaky, but don't worry, it's instinct! To learn more about the hoarding behavior of your sock lover and toy keeper check out this article on Hoarding Behavior in Dogs.

Max's Mini-Reviews

ECOPURE DOG TREATS : I'm not one to discriminate when it comes to food but these treats are so good I wonder if my humans aren't accidentally giving me one of their cookies... either way, I'm not going to tell them! My humans say they're good because they're made with natural ingredients, but all I know is that I'm going to have to be on my best behavior so I can get some more.

COMBATX EXTREME BONE TUG : This toy is as tough as it gets. It can handle all my chomping, chewing, tugging and tossing. I like that it fits my every play mood: fetching, tugging, chewing and swimming! You just can't beat the CombatX Extreme Bone Tug.

"My dog, she looks at me sometimes with that look, and I think maybe deep down inside she must know exactly how I feel. But then maybe she just wants the food off my plate."
